Cars and watches have historical connections. Like F1, similar to the relationship between seat manufacturers and car makers. HONDA’s partner is SEIKO, and many collaboration models continue to be developed today.

I acquired a model connected to my S2000 and DB8.

In 1963, the S500 – an open two-seater with world-class performance – was developed. This is the lineage leading to the S2000. That same year, Grand Seiko released the Grand Seiko First, beginning its challenge to the world’s prestigious watch manufacturers.

In the 1970s, Honda developed the Civic. This FF front-wheel-drive car aimed to become a global people’s basic car, and the Integra including the DB8 was later developed as an upper model of this Civic. What Grand Seiko was developing at this timing was the 45GS, and the movement in this watch was developed with the goal of “competing equally with Switzerland,” dominating the top ranks at the 1969 Swiss competition. It was the movement that elevated Seiko’s image as a high-precision manufacturer.

Understanding not just the driving feel but also the historical context and history allows for a broader way of enjoying cars.
