Uniqueness

Having driven about 500km, here are my impressions so far. The extreme weight balance is the 996’s charm.

Intense traction and stopping power. Traction like a rocket launch, brakes like being held down by a giant, stopping with overwhelming force while crushing all four wheels.

Heavy and firm. Suspension moves well thanks to body rigidity, good ride comfort. Steering is smooth, front weight transfer essential when turning. Torqueful engine, violently accelerates at high RPM. Exhaust note lacks VTEC-like excitement, but has a unique sound from outside. Designed to hear exhaust at 3,000 and 6,000 RPM, adult-oriented as it doesn’t change even with windows open.

Seems solid but danger emerges when you push it. If the rear slides, it’s over.
