Headlight Restoration: Painting Edition

It seems that headlights for the EK9 are still available as parts, but there’s not even a rumor about reproduced headlights for the DC2/DB8. This photo shows one that was surface-polished, cleaned inside, and then coated with urethane clear.

Originally, this was a used item imported from overseas, and it had yellowing, minor scratches, and a dirty interior (the right headlight is the one after surface polishing).

After degreasing, I sprayed urethane clear. At first, I applied just enough for the particles to land, then gradually built up thicker coats. By around the third coat, it achieved a wet-looking gloss.

After drying, it developed orange peel texture, so I corrected the paint surface with wet sanding.

Finally, I finished it with a polisher and compound. While it’s not quite like new, it turned out with a clean, refreshed appearance.
