Days spent searching for an S2000. On a hunch, I contacted TYPEONE, and they said, “We have one S2000, in silver.”
It turned out to be Sebring Silver, with a clean undercarriage free of rust.

Finished to TYPEONE’s standards, it’s a 120 model with pillar tape applied in 100-spec style. The fact that they removed the glass just to apply the pillar tape is true TYPEONE quality.

First things first, a test drive. The test course went from C2 to the Bayshore Route, then extended to Chiba, and finally the long course on C3.

What impressed me most during the test drive was the handling. It responds precisely to even the slightest steering input. This much turn-in from such minimal steering? It’s like precision gears.

The VTEC engagement isn’t as thrilling as the Integra’s—smooth, for better or worse. The DB8 with its B18C is much more dramatic.

But the S2000 is a convertible. Such a sports car, yet open-top—the pleasure of the sky and wind. I couldn’t help imagining how perfect it would be with a proper exhaust note.

The interior is black and red—not the masterpiece I was looking for, but I don’t have confidence I could find a better example than this. I can always hunt for interior parts, and there’s SACLAM for the exhaust note. It’s more than good enough as a starting point—and recognizing that is what matters.

Having experienced Honda’s poor parts supply with my DB8, I doubt the S2000 is any exception. Consult with them while you can—once parts are out of stock, they’re probably gone forever.

A 20-year-old, yet exceptional sports car. This is a car I can live with, a car I want to live with—that’s how I feel.
