Mounting Guide: LED Fog Lights

Check out this light bar

Back in my younger days, I might have gone for something like 10,000K HID!! But now I prefer upgrades that are hassle-free, don’t look like aftermarket add-ons, or can be completely separated from the factory setup. Reliability is especially important to me

With this mindset, I chose the IPF LED light bar 611FJ. It’s lightweight at around 1.2kg, can be installed inside the bumper, and boasts impressive specs with 180,000cd/3,220lm output. Since recent HIDs are around 2,800lm, this single fog light provides substantial illumination

I installed it so the LED light bar isn’t visible from the front. This is how it looks when you peek from underneath

I thoroughly read the safety standards for front fog lamps before installation, and since the ’98 DB8 has relatively relaxed regulations, I believe this setup should pass inspection. Modern cars have restrictions on placement, quantity, brightness, and synchronization with other lights, so I think they can practically only be installed as work lights

  • Almost no restrictions on installation location
  • Brightness must be under 10,000cd (the 611FJ has three brightness levels, with the minimum at 700cd)
  • Main beam axis must be aimed downward

I took it for a drive with the lights on, and the beam distance and spread provided excellent visibility—reassuring. Now I just need to monitor whether my DIY installation holds up over time

Currently the power button setup looks like this, but I plan to refine the interior installation further to maintain the factory aesthetic
