Oil Change

未分類

After driving about 1,000km, I decided to change the oil. I used to change the oil myself on my previous Roadster, but since switching to Audi, I’ve left it entirely to the shop. Still, it’s strange how when I come back to this type of car, I feel like doing it myself again.

The biggest advantage of doing this kind of work yourself is being able to do it whenever you feel like it. So I got everything I needed. All from Amazon.

  • MOTUL H-TECH100 5W30W
  • Oil filter: HAMP Synergy H1540-RTA-003
  • KTC Cup Wrench AVSA-063
  • PALSTAR Oil Changer

I combined the cup filter wrench with my Nepros tools. By the way, you don’t even need to jack up the car—the DC2/DB8 oil filter is easily accessible from the body side of the engine, and can be removed with just this much extension. That’s the beauty of having a spacious engine bay. Old cars are wonderful.

Like this, I drained the old oil with the oil changer, replaced the HAMP oil filter, poured in 4L of new oil, and done. It doesn’t take much time, and the cost is only about 3,500 yen per change, so I’m planning to change it frequently on a three-month cycle regardless of mileage.
