West Izu

DB8(e

The route took me halfway around the West Izu coastline, along the Izu Skyline, through the Turnpike, and onto the Tomei Expressway.

It was my first time driving through West Izu, and Route 136 was a great road. That said, there was more traffic than I expected.

The Izu Skyline was the highlight this time. It’s a 40km stretch of perfectly flowing curves where you can continuously experiment with steering angle, throttle input, and how you trail off the brakes to adjust the car’s attitude. With its smooth road surface and beautiful scenery, it’s a perfect road—which is probably why they do a lot of speed enforcement there.

About 600km in distance, roughly 5 hours of driving. I was able to try out what I wanted with the seat position and steering wheel placement.
