Maintaining the body and moldings has always been a challenge. Repainting would make it look beautiful, but with cars of this age, concerns like “preserving the original paint” come into play, along with restrictions such as not being able to remove the glass because molding parts are discontinued (which is exactly the situation with my DB8).

While my DB8 looks fairly clean overall, the fading of the moldings had reached a noticeable level, so I decided to try a different maintenance approach this time.

What I used was the silicone oil that I normally use for the suspension components.
- Shin-Etsu Chemical KF-96
The application method is extremely simple. After a quick wash, apply KF-96 to the wet body and glass surfaces, then wipe it off. The same process applies to both panels and moldings.

Not only did the moldings turn black again, but the wet look on the body is close to that of a luxury car. Since silicone oil can also be used to protect weather stripping, even the car’s silhouette looks sharper from a distance.
I’m very satisfied with this maintenance result, but since it is literally an oil, I plan to monitor how well it penetrates and how long the effect lasts going forward.
